2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class

A brand new concept is ready for the market. This is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class. The first presentation was recently at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, and the main presentation will be in September this year at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show. First of all, they compete with the new BMW X2 and Audi Q2 models. As far as size is concerned, very little differs from GLC-Class.

It is made on the MFA2 platform with four doors. Of course, each model will get a special name, depending on the choice of the engine.

In the North American market, the 2020 GLB-Class will offer a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine (GLB250).

Available are the Eco/Comfort, Sport and Off-Road driving mode. We assume that the European market will offer 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine of 163 hp (122 kW) and 184 lb-ft (249 Nm) of torque. It will also have a 1.5-liter four-cylinder diesel engine, possibly with 116 hp (87 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque. Of course, these engines will probably have their gearboxes, above all a six-speed manual transmission. We particularly emphasize the AMG GLB35 variant, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The production of this engine is 302 hp (225 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This engine will have AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive, combined with 7-speed AMG SpeedShift DCT transmission.

Exterior and interior design

Exterior characterizes the Boxy-design G-Class, while the interior inspired with B-Class. The front grille features horizontal slats on each side of the star emblem. In addition has a rectangular LED headlamps, vertical two-piece taillights, fog lamps in the bumper (encased in black plastic elements with fake honeycomb vents). Of course, they’re there almost vertical tailgate, roof LED spotlights in the front and in the rear, black roof rails and a roof box. In the cabin they’re cloth, Nappa, Nubuk or Alcantara leather upholstery, perforated leather seats, and wood trim of open-pore walnut. Also, it’s there digital instrument cluster, large 10.25-inch twin-screen infotainment display with MBUX infotainment system, and 64-color ambient lighting.

All in all, we expect the cheapest version of the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class to cost around $ 38,000. Soon production starts, but unfortunately, we expect the first models in the market next year.
